Firefighters responding to a falling object incident found yesterday a woman in her fifties whose head was stuck in a window grille on a flat’s balcony of a residential building on Travessa dos Juncos in the Praia do Manduco (Ha Van Kai) area.
According to a statement by the Fire Services Bureau (CB), while firefighters were responding to a contusion on the right foot of a local woman who was said to have been hit by a plastic bottle falling from a height from the building, they saw another woman in a flat on the 5th floor of that building, with her head stuck in a window grille on the balcony.
The statement noted that both victims were rushed by ambulance to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for treatment, during which the second victim, suffering from a head contusion and laceration to her left eye, was in a lower level of consciousness.
As quoted by public broadcaster TDM, the Public Security Police (PSP) said the woman’s head got accidentally stuck in the window grille while she was working on a renovation project at the flat, so she threw down a plastic bottle to alert a passer-by to her plight.
