The Health Bureau (SSM) says that about 370 breastfeeding rooms have been set up in various public and private premises across the city.
SSM Director Alvis Lo Iek Long made the remarks in a reply to a written interpellation made by lawmaker Alan Ho Ion Sang last month. Dr Lo gave the reply earlier this month, the copy of which has recently been uploaded onto the website of the Legislative Assembly (AL).
Dr Lo also said that breastfeeding rooms have been newly set up in the Macau Grand Prix Museum in Zape and in the Ritz Building in Largo do Senado, the city’s main square, both run by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO).
Dr Lo also said that over 200 public and private entities have joined his bureau’s programme creating a more breastfeeding-friendly workplace.
The health chief also noted that smartphone users can check the locations of the city’s various breastfeeding rooms on his bureau’s mobile app.
This file photo released by the Health Bureau (SSM) last year shows a breastfeeding room in a government facility.
