SJM Resorts said in a statement yesterday that World No. 46 Min Woo Lee of Australia will compete in this year’s Macao Open golf tournament, which will be held at the Macau Golf and Country Club, from October 10 to 13.

Lee, 26, recorded an exceptional two-shot wire-to-wire victory in the US$1 million SJM Macao Open golf tournament last year, marking his first title in two years, according to the statement.

Lee, who is of Korean descent, expressed his excitement about returning: “I’m thrilled to be coming back to the SJM Macao Open. Last year was an incredible experience, and winning with a record score was a highlight of my season. I have great memories of the course and the fantastic support from the fans. I’m looking forward to another amazing week in Macau and hope to defend my title,” according to the statement.

Lee’s score last year smashed the event’s previous lowest winning total of 20 under, set by fellow Australian Scott Hend in 2015 and was just two short of the Asian Tour record, which Thailand’s Chapchai Nirat set at the SAIL Open in 2009 in India, according to the Post’s report last year.

The tournament is sponsored by integrated resort operator SJM, which owns 13 of Macau’s 30 casinos.

The event offers free admission. For more information and updates on the SJM Macao Open 2024, members of the public can visit its official page at www.sjmmacaoopen.com and register for the tickets.
