Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario said yesterday that the government was planning to declare the invalidity of the land concession for a plot originally set aside for an ocean park project in Taipa.
Rosario made the remarks when replying to an oral interpellation by lawmaker-cum-unionist Ella Lei Cheng I during a plenary session of the legislature.
Lei criticised the government for its slow progress in declaring the invalidity of provisional land concessions for undeveloped plots. The government started to take up the matter in 2009.
The Land Law stipulates that provisional land concessions cannot be renewed upon their expiration if their leaseholders fail to finish developing the respective plots of land within a maximum concession period of 25 years.
