The works of Guangzhou-born young artist Dawn Jian (簡丹) are being showcased on the 2nd floor of the Inner Harbour’s Ponte 16 Resort, in a solo exhibition entitled “Come Rain or Shine”.
Featuring works created with oils and acrylics, among others, as well as an installation, the free-admission exhibition “invites viewers on a dynamic journey through the four seasons, featuring Macau’s iconic lotus flower”, according to a recent statement on the hotel’s website.
The lotus flower is the official emblem of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR).
Jian, who grew up in the US, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Her body of work spans installation art, painting, and design, focusing on “ephemerality and the harmonious fusion of Eastern traditions and modern Western philosophy”.
The young artist has taken part in various exhibitions in the Chinese mainland and the US. Among her awards is one that recognised her as one of the 10 most promising artists from China in 2018 by the QingChun Art Foundation.
The statement noted that through Jian’s art, exhibitiongoers are invited to “pause, be introspective, and forge deeper connections with themselves and the world around them”, according to the statement.
Meanwhile, remarking on the exhibition, Ponte 16 Deputy Chief Executive Officer Hoffman Ma (馬浩文) was quoted by the statement as saying that Jian’s exhibition “not only celebrates creativity and individuality, but also highlights the vibrant essence of Macau”.
The exhibition is on until October 30. One can visit it from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. More information can be found on the Ponte 16 website, while one can also visit www.dawnjian.com to learn more about the artist.
