The Cultural Affairs Bureau’s (IC) two-day “Greater Bay Area Cultural Heritage Forum” kicked off yesterday, with representatives from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), experts and scholars in the field of cultural heritage from home and abroad sharing their practical experience in cultural heritage conservation and community revitalisation.
Co-organised by Guangdong’s Department of Culture and Tourism and Hong Kong’s Development Bureau, the theme of the two-day forum is “the integration and sharing of cultural heritage in the GBA”, the opening ceremony of which was held yesterday at Macau Cultural Centre (CCM).
The forum will continue today.
During the opening ceremony, Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Deland Leong Wai Man said that the forum will discuss important topics regarding the connections, values and adaptive reuse of cultural heritage in the GBA, and the use of technology, which is of enormous practical significance for the invigoration and sharing of the GBA’s cultural heritage resources, advancing cultural heritage preservation to a new level.
Hong Kong’s Secretary for Development Bernadette Linn Hon-ho said in her speech that cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau had reached an important milestone when the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Heritage Walk” jointly organised by the three regions was launched, highlighting the close connection between the three regions in history and development through their historical buildings related to education, aiming to set up a sustainable relationship for all parties.
During the forum, the launch ceremony of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Heritage Walk” thematic website was also held, which shows historical buildings related to education, including 99 historical buildings related to education in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau.
