A man from Malaysia was caught when he arrived at the local airport from Kuala Lumpur yesterday smuggling methamphetamine (aka ice), Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Wai Lok said at a regular press conference yesterday.

The 38-year-old male suspect surnamed Mohd told the police that he’s jobless.

According to Ho, PJ officers intercepted Mohd, who appeared nervous after retrieving his luggage, during a routine luggage check on Tuesday afternoon. They found two packets of ice, with a street value of 7,500 patacas, in a compartment of his luggage, as well as drug-taking paraphernalia.

Under questioning, Mohd refused to cooperate. He tested negative for drugs.

Mohd has been transferred to the Public Prosecution Office (MP), facing drug trafficking charges, Ho said.
