The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested a female gambler from the mainland on Saturday for stealing casino chips worth HK$126,000 from a gaming table at a casino in Cotai, PJ spokesman Ho Wai Lok said during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Ho, the 43-year-old suspect, surnamed Peng, gambled on a table with chips worth HK$126,000. After losing, she grabbed the chips from the gaming table and put them in her bag. The dealer discovered that Peng had taken the chips off the table and reported the case to the police.
Peng was then intercepted by the security guards and transferred to the police. Under questioning, Peng admitted to stealing chips from the table.
Peng was transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) on Monday, facing aggravated theft charges, according to Ho.
