97 pct surf Internet on their mobiles: survey

Findings show that 97 percent of the city’s netizens browse the Internet on their mobile phones, with 71 percent also using laptops and 67 percent tablets, Macau Internet Research Association (MAIR) Director Athena Seng I No said yesterday.

Seng announced the findings of the 17th Macau Annual Internet Usage Survey, which was conducted by her association and e-Research Lab, during a press conference at the office of the Macau Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) in Nape.

According to the findings, there were 490,000 netizens in Macau at the time of the survey, up by about 6.7 percent year on year, accounting for 80 percent of the city’s population.
