The central government’s National Film Administration announced yesterday that “Ne Zha 2” will have its cinema release in Hong Kong and Macau on Saturday, with the local premiere taking place in Macau tonight.
The announcement noted that “with the strong coordination of the Central People’s Government Liaison Office in Macau and the relevant entities of the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) government, the premiere of ‘Ne Zha 2’ will be held in Macau on Wednesday, February 19.”
According to the National Film Administration, the total box office, including point-of-sale and pre-sale, of the blockbuster, as of yesterday, had exceeded 12 billion yuan (13.26 billion patacas).
The local premiere will take place at Emperor Cinema of Lisboeta integrated resort in Cotai.
In the Chinese mainland, the mega-blockbuster’s cinema release was on January 29, coinciding with the first day of the Chinese New Year (CNY).
As reported by CCTV News, the cumulative box office of the animated film has surpassed that of “Inside Out 2,” a US animated film released last year, placing it at the top of the global box office list for animated films and among the top 8 in the overall global box office rankings.
