Macau’s annual Sports Day for Persons with Disabilities, organised by the Sports Bureau (ID) in conjunction with the Macau-China Paralympic Committee & Macau-China Recreation and Sports Association for the Disabled, Macau Special Olympics and the Macau Sports Association of the Deaf, will be held in Praça dos Lótus in Ilha Verde district(青洲坊蓮花廣場)this Sunday , the bureau announced at yesterday’s press conference.

This annual event, which previously took place at the Olympic Sports Centre in Taipa, will be held outdoors for the first time aiming to provide more opportunities to join sports activities for people with disabilities, and provide a platform for them to interact and communicate with the general public, people without disabilities in particular, Sports Bureau Development Department Chief Chao Kuok Wai told reporters during yesterday’s press conference.

Chao said that the Disability Sports Day will feature sporting events for individuals of all abilities, a “Drunken Dragon Dance”* experience, prize-winning quiz sessions and sports performances by several disability sports organisations. Meanwhile, a fitness assessment zone will be set up onsite, where professionals will provide personalised physical evaluations and health consultations, with the aim of deepening understanding of individual physical conditions.

Chao added that people with disabilities, their families, and the public in general are welcome to participate, aiming to break boundaries through sport, and take practical actions to implement the spirit of inclusion for people with and without disabilities.
