Macau’s calendar is filled with festivals throughout the year and although St Patrick’s Day is not officially on the calendar of events, there are still lots of activities going on that celebrate the Irish culture.

St Patrick’s Day is the observance of the death of Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, on March 17.

Originally a religious feast day during the 17th century, this day, a national holiday in Ireland, has become a day where people around the world celebrate Irish culture with the “greening” of landmarks, parades, music, dancing, food and lots of other green things.

Participants take part in an Ogham workshop as part of the Macau Irish Festival that took place at Macau Design Centre on Monday.
