The Public Security Police (PSP) announced in a statement on Monday night that five motorbikes crashed due to a car’s oil leak, injuring seven.
The accident, according the statement, happened at 7 p.m. on Monday. The injured comprised five motorbike riders and two pillions, all of them local residents aged 20 to 57. All riders passed breathalyser tests.
The incident, the statement said, occurred on Avenida dos Jogos da Ásia Oriental in Taipa, near YOHO Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. According to the Public Security Police, a suspected oil leak from a car earlier that day had spilt across an area about 150 metres in length.
The oil, the statement said, caused five motorcycles driving through the spill to lose control and crash, resulting in minor injuries to seven residents, two of whom were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The Public Security Police have notified the driver of the vehicle involved in the oil spill to report to the Traffic Department for further investigation.
