Macau has recorded this year’s 23rd imported case of chikungunya fever, a two-year-old local boy, the Health Bureau (SSM) has announced.
The case was reported on Wednesday.
According to an SSM statement on Wednesday night, the boy lives in Kam Weng Building on Avenida do Ouvidor Arriaga.
The boy visited Foshan City in Guangdong Province with his family members between Tuesday last week and Tuesday this week. He came down with a rash on Tuesday morning, after which his family members brought him back to Macau in the afternoon.
The boy came down with a fever in the early hours of Wednesday, after which he was taken to the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre where he was hospitalised for treatment.
The boy was diagnosed with chikungunya fever by the Health Bureau’s Public Health Laboratory on Wednesday.
The boy was in a stable condition at the time of Wednesday’s statement.
