A man in his fifties has lost a total of 1.7 million patacas which he deposited into a bank account in Hong Kong in an “investment” scam, according to the Judiciary Police (PJ).
The victim was told by someone he had met on the Internet that an “investment chance” was available to him, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a regular press conference yesterday.According to Lei, the victim met a woman on a mobile phone social networking application in September last year. The victim saw a photo of a name card on the account of the woman. The name card stated that she was a senior board member of a financial service group in Hong Kong, Lei said.
