A “Tennis Clinic” was held on November 19 at Hengqin School Affiliated to Hou Kong Middle School, according to a statement recently provided by SJM Resorts.
The event featured close to 40 students and teachers, preceding the upcoming 2025 CTA Tour SJM Professional Finals, scheduled to take place from December 1 (next Monday) to 7 at the Macau Tennis Academy in Cotai.
In Hengqin, the statement noted, professional coaches led participants through training exercises and group activities including games guided by the coaches. The clinic included an exhibition featuring past CTA Tour champions including Bu Yunchaokete, Wu Yibing, Liu Fangzhou, Wang Yafan, Cui Jie, Te Rigele, and Wang Qiang.
“This activity further deepened students’ understanding of China’s sporting achievements, nurturing a sense of national pride while cultivating a love for physical activity”, according to the statement.
The statement said that a prize presentation was also held while participants also received commemorative gifts of the CTA Tour Finals, with outstanding students receiving additional souvenirs featuring SJM’s mascot “Sam the Rooster”. The clinic series aims to promote tennis development across the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The statement added that SJM has partnered with the University of Macau’s Office of Sports Affairs to host the “SJM X UM 2025 Tennis Experience Camp” held this month, providing local youngsters’ with tennis instructions. The statement said that some 25 young players began their journey from the basics, mastering essential skills such as grip, swinging and hitting under the guidance of experienced instructors.
The 2025 CTA Tour began in April in Huzhou City, Zhejiang Province, with tournaments nationwide selecting players for next month’s Macau finals.
The event coincided with tennis competitions of the 15th National Games in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, the statement noted.
