Due to it being the Good Friday, Ching Ming and Easter public holidays between today and Sunday, followed by two days of civil service (but not public) holidays, The Macau Post Daily team will take a break between today and Monday. The editorial team will be back to work on Tuesday for the return of our print edition on Wednesday, April 8.

Our management team will return to work on Wednesday.

However, our website https://www.macaupostdaily.com/ will be updated 24/7 for breaking news.

We wish all our readers, advertisers, distributors and contributors a restful holiday break.

All government offices and banks will be closed from today until Tuesday returning to work on Wednesday. Customarily, local banks are closed in line with their counterparts in Hong Kong. Hong Kong’s public holiday runs from today through Tuesday.

According to the China Highlights website, the Ching Ming Festival, spelt Qingming in Putonghua pinyin, is also known as Tomb-Sweeping Day as it is the time for Chinese people to show respect to their ancestors by cleaning their ancestors' tombs and placing offerings.

Qingming (清明) in Chinese means 'clearness' and 'brightness'. It is the fifth of the 24 solar terms of the traditional Chinese solar calendar, marking the start of the warm weather of spring and the beginning of farm work. https://www.chinahighlights.com/festivals/qingming-festival.htm
