The Macau Jiangmen Communal Society yesterday urged the government to increase the number of public car parks and car parking spaces in the streets, to tackle the severe lack of public parking resources in the city.
Earlier this week, the government announced a gradual increase in the city’s parking meter rates beginning on June 17, with the aim of deterring prolonged parking as well as allowing the “fair use” of the city’s limited public parking resources.
The association yesterday held a meeting for residents to express their opinions about the government’s latest increase in the parking meter rates. About 50 people attended the meeting in the association’s service centre in Rua da Ribeira do Patane, which was co-hosted by a several board members of the group.
