Three free-of-charge extended activities for integrated resort operator Sands China’s recently-launched “Community Revitalisation Programme 2.0 for Rua das Estalagens” are set to take place this month and June.
According to a statement last night, the activities are “designed to provide practical support for aspiring entrepreneurs in Macau to seize business opportunities in the district, while also encouraging existing shop owners to upgrade and rejuvenate their operations” and are jointly organised by Sands China, government units, industry professionals and scholars.
The first of the activities, a Briefing Session, is scheduled tomorrow at 3 p.m. at The Londoner Macao, where a Sands China representative will introduce the programme’s key features and application details, while representatives from the Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT), the Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM), CEM, and Macao Water have also been invited to talk more about some basics of setting up a new business.
On May 14, two “SME [small and medium-sized enterprises] Training Courses” will take place at The Londoner Macao. The first course is titled “Macao SMEs: From Transformation of Traditions to Startup Innovation”, with University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education Director and UM Faculty of Business Administration Prof. Matthew Liu Ting Chi as the invited speaker, exploring market trends and industry developments, among others. The second session “Effective Business Plan and Marketing Strategy” will focus on skills for drafting business proposals and market promotion.
Both the briefing session and training courses will require prior registration, while the last activity, “Rua das Estalagens Open Days”, is open to walk-ins during its two weekends from May 15-17 and June 12-14. Shop units available for lease in the district will be open, welcoming visits and gaining “first-hand experience on the environment of the district and shop spaces”, the statement noted.

The two key initiatives this year are “Entrepreneurship Recruitment Programme 2.0 for Rua das Estalagens” that invites applications for a new batch of businesses to operate in the district, and the inaugural “Shop Rebranding Programme” targeting the area’s existing businesses and enhancing their competitiveness.
