Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raymond Tam Vai Man said in a speech yesterday that Macau is making every effort to advance the local government’s “1+4” strategy* for appropriate economic diversification, and accelerating the development of four flagship infrastructure projects: the Macao-Hengqin International Education (University) Town, the Macao International Integrated Tourism and Cultural Zone, the Macao International Airport Transport Hub on the West Bank of the Pearl River Estuary, and the Macao Sci-Tech Park.

Meanwhile, Macau will also continue to deepen its integrated cooperation with the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), enriching the development blueprint of the 11-city area, Tam said.

Tam delivered his speech at the opening ceremony for “The 17th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum & Exhibition” (IIICF), which was held at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo yesterday morning.

This year’s three-day forum, themed “Boosting Green Digital Infrastructure Connectivity”, focuses on the latest applications and practices of green and digital-intelligent technologies in the infrastructure sector, aiming to further consolidate consensus within the international infrastructure sector on win-win cooperation and provide new solutions for the sustained advancement of global infrastructure connectivity, Tam said.

Tam added that the forum has developed into Macau’s annual industry event with the highest standards, the largest scale, and the greatest influence in the field of global infrastructure cooperation.

Newly signed deals worth US$178.8 billion in 2025

In a video address, the Central People’s Government’s Assistant Minister of Commerce Yuan Xiaoming pointed out that the Chinese mainland’s overseas projects’ contracting performance in 2025 reached a record high, with newly signed contracts worth US$178.8 billion. Among these, contracts signed in Belt and Road (B&R) partner countries accounted for 89.2 percent of the total, he said.

China remains committed to high-level opening up, acting as a global connectivity builder and a defender of global industrial chains, Yuan said. Leveraging the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), China supports domestic enterprises in participating in international infrastructure and connectivity cooperation, Yuan added.
