Giant pandas “Jian Jian (健健)” and “Kang Kang (康康)” are turning 10 on Friday, with a birthday celebration going to be held at the Macao Giant Panda Pavilion that also invites members of the public to join the festivities.

The twin brothers were born in Macau to parents “Kai Kai” (開開) and “Xin Xin” (心心), two giant pandas entrusted to Macau by the Central People’s Government.

The Friday birthday bash for the two cuties will also have keepers present a “specially made birthday cake” to them, while dozens of invited 10-year-old students will join the occasion, along with parents and teachers.

A recent statement by the Macau Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) described both 10-year-olds as well-loved by people of all ages

Other event highlights for that day include the award ceremony for the pandas’ 10th birthday card design contest that was open to young students across Macau, with a total of nine winners chosen from over 1,100 entries, the statement said. A themed “da ka” photo spot, along with free game booths and workshops are also part of the programme.

The celebration and ceremony, the statement added, will be broadcast on the China Central Television (CCTV) iPanda platform (www.ipanda.com).
