The government will sign a concession agreement with local airport operator CAM – Macau International Airport Company Limited – on operating an area in the Taipa Ferry Terminal earmarked to be used as part of the adjacent airport, according to an executive order published in the Official Gazette (BO) yesterday.

The order, signed by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai on August 7, authorises Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raymond Tam Vai Man, on behalf of the local government, to sign the concession agreement with CAM.

According to another executive order signed by Sam gazetted yesterday, the government decided to directly grant CAM a concession agreement without launching a public tender, considering that CAM is well qualified and experienced in operating an airport.

The government said in 2024 that it had decided at that time to suspend its plan to convert part of the Taipa Ferry Terminal into the adjacent airport’s Terminal 2.

Neither of the two orders yesterday mentions how the area in the ferry terminal covered by the concession will be used.
