Local musician Brian Vong (黃信斌), also known as BV, has been honoured with an “Outstanding Person Award” at the 2025 Outstanding Person Annual Awards organised by the Chinese Today Press in recognition of his musical work and contribution to the community, according to a recent report by Macao Daily News (澳門日報), Macau’s top-selling Chinese-language newspaper.
The statement said that the awards ceremony was held on July 16 at Asia Television in Hong Kong, where Vong received the Outstanding Person Award.
In his acceptance speech, Vong said he hopes to continue spreading warmth through music creation and live performances and give back to society through his music, the report noted, adding that throughout last year, Vong continued creating and performing a diverse range of musical works.
Earlier this year, he staged three free public concerts in Macau, Hong Kong and Zhuhai’s Jinwan district, attracting large audiences and using music as a means of connecting with the community, the report underlined.
Addressing the ceremony, Vong said that society is facing considerable pressure amid ongoing uncertainty around the world, the report said. He believes that “positive energy” is needed more than ever, and hopes to use music to bring comfort and strength to his fans and the wider community, the report noted, adding that he also encouraged people to rediscover the courage to face challenges and maintain their aspirations for a better life, pledging to continue producing inspiring works that can bring light to both himself and others.
The award recognised Vong’s musical talent as well as his commitment to public service through his performances and community-oriented activities, according to the report.
Vong also announced plans to hold the “BV Concert 2026 (Hengqin)” in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone later this year, according to the report. The concert will continue his focus on public spirit and positivity, with details of the date and venue to be announced later, the report highlighted.
The report also said that Vong described Hengqin as a new platform where he aims to bring the courage and hope conveyed through his music to a wider audience. With his latest award and plans for a new gig in Hengqin, Vong said he will continue using music to connect with audiences and contribute to the community, the statement added.
