Industry leaders and decision makers were gathered at the inaugural “Fortune Leaders Forum” yesterday at Grand Lisboa Palace (GLP) in Cotai for discussions on key topics and challenges found in today’s business landscape.
Themed “Leadership in the Age of Convergence and Complexity” and having integrated resort operator SJM as host partner, the event saw a variety of discussions with business leaders, taking on topics including AI, its applications and how it is reshaping the industry as well as travel, robotaxis and the future of the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The event particularly highlighted the influence of three major trends: breakthroughs in AI, geopolitical tensions, and changing demographics.
Opening the event, Lee Williamson, the co-chair of Fortune Leaders Forum, pointed out in his speech yesterday morning that the convergence of these three trends is “reshaping the global business landscape”, noting: “In this new era of volatility, the leaders defining what comes next aren’t waiting for certainty. Their global strategies over the world are defined by its absence”.
Williamson, who is also the editorial director of Fortune Asia, further highlighted the goal of hosting the event, noting: “The objective of today’s programme is to turn passing complexity into your competitive advantage. Beyond the stage, this conference is also designed to foster dialogue between all delegates”.
In her opening speech, SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu Fung also pointed out the importance of hosting the event in Macau: “This exchange will not only strengthen our city’s role as an international centre for business dialogue and collaboration, but its substance is directly relevant to Macau’s latest strategy”.
She added: “Today’s discussion on technology and talent, finance and health, travel and destination economies and the future of the Greater Bay Area (GBA) all touch upon Macau’s 1+4 diversification strategy. Their relevance lies not only in each of you individually, but in the connections between them. And those connections matter as much to the economies represented in this room as they do to ours”.
In all, there were over 250 attendees comprising senior executives, investors, policymakers and innovators at the event, as noted in a statement issued by Fortune, a premier global media company for global business leaders, last night.
