Close to a hundred works are being presented in an exhibition at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery that is hoping to put a spotlight on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) culture.
With five days left to go, the free-admission “Greater Health ∙ Traditional Chinese Medicine Health Preservation – Exhibition of Pottery Sculptures of Ten Renowned Physicians and Calligraphy Works” sees art disciplines come together for the showcase.
The exhibition is organised by the Macao Wisdom‑Humanity Progressive Association (MWHPA) in conjunction with the Greater Bay Area Pottery Collection and Exchange Association and the gallery, which is located at 749 Avenida da Praia Grande.
MWHPA President Ung Choi Kun highlights Macau’s position and role regarding TCM in the exhibition statement: “As a hub for Sino‑Western cultural exchange, Macau bears a remarkable legacy: Dr Sun Yat‑sen once practised medicine and provided free medical consultations here over a century ago, setting a fine example of mutual learning between Chinese and Western medicine. To this day, TCM is widely trusted and adopted across Macau society, making the city a key pillar for TCM’s global outreach”.
The organisers hope that the showcase will “contribute to the national Healthy China strategy and align with Macau’s policies for developing the great‑health industry”, as well as popularise TCM culture to everyone from locals to international tourists for them to learn and even apply the knowledge.
“The philosophy of preventive healthcare can thereby reach every household, opening broader global horizons for Traditional Chinese Medicine”, the statement said.
Members of the public keen to get an insight into TCM through various artistic mediums can visit the gallery until Saturday. One can visit the exhibition from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from today through Friday, and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
