According to a statement by integrated resort operator SJM on Friday, Sneaker Con will make its local debut on October 10 and 11 at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau’s The Grand Hall in Cotai, marking the convention’s return to the nation’s market after a three-year hiatus.
Organised by Yue Seng Sports Culture Co., Ltd. and local streetwear brand MACCREW, and title-sponsored by SJM Resorts, S.A., the event will feature former NBA (National Basketball Association) player Metta Sandiford-Artest, known professionally as Metta World Peace, and Houston Rockets’ Marcus Smart, who will talk about their basketball careers and personal stories with audiences, the statement said.
The Macau edition will also introduce a concert programme on October 10, featuring Chinese rapper and singer-songwriter Yamy (Guo Ying) and Last King (Liu Xuanting), with Bostick Chen (陈土豆) as host, the statement noted, adding that the convention will feature sneaker trading, authentication, buying and selling, streetwear brands and vendor booths. The statement also pointed out that its Trading Pit will allow collectors and streetwear enthusiasts to display and trade rare sneakers.
Meanwhile, MACCREW founder Allen Choi (蔡奧龍) said the event would combine local streetwear culture with the sports industry and support Macau’s Tourism+ and Sports+ initiatives, the statement noted, adding that the event is expected to attract more than 5,000 visitors.
According to the statement, “Early Bird” tickets went on sale on Saturday, with two-day passes starting at 199 patacas. Meanwhile, standard tickets will go on sale starting from 169 patacas when the early bird period ends on September 24.
