The “2026 CTA Tour SJM Professional Final and National Tennis Championships” will return to Macau from November 30 to December 6, introducing an all-knockout format and doubling the singles draws to 32 players each for the men’s and women’s competitions, the SJM Resorts announced in a press conference at the Grand Lisboa Palace integrated resort in Cotai yesterday.
The tournament will be held at the Macau Tennis Academy for the sixth consecutive year.
Organised by the Tennis Administrative Centre of the General Administration of Sport of China, the Chinese Tennis Association (CTA) and other sports entities, the event is sponsored and co-organised by SJM Resorts, with the Sports Bureau (ID) supporting its staging.
The 2026 season began in Jiangsu Province’s Changzhou City in May, with tour stops in several Chinese mainland cities before culminating in Macau.
This year’s tournament will feature men’s and women’s singles and doubles. Unlike previous editions, which combined group stages with knockout rounds, all matches will follow a knockout format. The expanded singles draws are expected to bring greater competition to the year-end event.
Among the players returning to Macau are Chinese tennis players Guo Hanyu, a Wimbledon women’s doubles champion, and Sun Fajing, according to a statement by SJM yesterday.
Addressing the presser, ID President Deland Leong Wai Man said that the tournament’s continued presence in Macau would support the development of tennis and the integration of sport and tourism. “The continuation of this event in Macau will further promote the development of tennis, advance the integration of ‘Sports + Tourism,’ and contribute to the sustainable diversification of Macau’s economy,” Leong said.
Meanwhile, SJM Managing Director Daisy Ho Chiu-fung said that the event also aimed to bring top Chinese players closer to local audiences and encourage younger generations to take up tennis. “Beyond bringing a major sporting event to the city, we hope to give residents and visitors the opportunity to watch China’s top players up close and inspire younger generations to discover the appeal and opportunities of tennis,” Ho noted.
Supporting activities will include the National Family Cup Tennis Invitational Finals, a sharing session with 2026 Wimbledon wheelchair tennis women’s doubles champion Zhu Zhenzhen, and the second consecutive year of the “Zheng Jie Cup” Elite Junior Tennis Training Camp in Macau, the statement said, noting that the camp will be led by national team coaches Zheng Jie and Zhang Yu, with local junior players given opportunities to train alongside mainland talent.
