Melco Resorts & Entertainment is holding the 6th Macau Tsingtao Beer Carnival until November 22, aiming to strengthen economic, trade and cultural exchanges between Macau and Qingdao while expanding the city’s “Tourism+” offerings, according to a Melco statement on Friday.
Co-organised by Melco and Asia Brewery (Macau) Co., Ltd., the carnival opened at City of Dreams Macau (COD) integrated resort in Cotai on Friday, themed “Olá Macau! Hajiu Qingdao!”, the statement noted.
The event is held under the guidance of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, with support from the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Macau Leisure Tourism Services Innovation Association, the statement said.
MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said that the event combines Qingdao’s beer culture with Macau’s leisure tourism offerings, providing residents and visitors with more leisure experiences and helping extend visitors’ stays, according to the statement. She added that the carnival brings together the resources of Macau’s integrated resorts and Qingdao’s cultural and commercial brands, contributing to the development of tourism-related activities and reinforcing Macau’s position as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure.
Melco Chief Advisor Kent Wong (黃昇雄) said that the company remained committed to supporting the government’s appropriate economic diversification strategy through tourism and leisure initiatives, the statement said. “Through the 6th Macau Tsingtao Beer Carnival, we hope to join hands with partners across different sectors to further enrich Macau’s ‘Tourism+’ offerings, create new momentum for the economic development of both Macau and Qingdao, and foster mutual growth and prosperity,” Wong added.
The carnival features Qingdao beer varieties at designated restaurants operated by Melco, including T for Tapas, Beijing Kitchen, Mezza9 Macau and Grand Hyatt Macau Fountain Café at City of Dreams, as well as Kiku Ramen, Joyride Diner, Louvre Pastry & Deli and Altira Macau Ballroom, the statement underlined.
The carnival forms part of Melco’s efforts to support economic diversification and promote cross-sector cooperation by combining beer culture, gastronomy and leisure tourism, the statement said.
