New Macau Association (NMA) activists handed in a petition to the Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (SAFP) yesterday calling for higher transparency in recruiting non-local public servants.
An official received the group’s petition in front of the SAFP headquarters in Rua do Campo.
According to a report by Chinese-language newspaper Macao Daily News last Tuesday, a non-local student surnamed Li, who recently completed a Chinese-Portuguese/Portuguese-Chinese Translation and Interpretation programme at the Macau Polytechnic Institute (IPM), told the newspaper that she had been recommended by IPM to the government for a job and had been recruited as a public servant through a “special method”.
