A car dealership said yesterday that electric cars are suitable for Macau as it is a small city, but it also said that the city’s residents are hesitant about buying an electric car as they think that the number of electric vehicle charging stations in the city is still insufficient.
Wilson Mok Chak Wah, the general manager of Xin Kang Shun Motors Limited, spoke to reporters yesterday on the sidelines of a forum about the prospect of electric cars in the city. The forum, which took place at Macau Tower, was jointly organised by the company, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers of Macau (IEEE Macau) and the Society of Operations Engineers (Macau).
Mok said that residents in Macau were still not very receptive to buying electric cars. He said one of the reasons was that customers thought that it was still inconvenient for them to charge their electric cars. He added that customers thought that there was still an insufficient number of electric vehicle charging stations in the city.
