Two mainland men were arrested for exchanging fake HK$10,000 gaming chips for genuine one in a casino in Cotai on Saturday, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday.

According to the spokesperson, one of the suspects, surnamed Zhao, is 21 years old while the other suspect, surnamed Zhang, is aged 22. Both are unemployed.

The spokesperson said the casino management told the police on Saturday its staff discovered that the duo had used bogus chips. The suspects reentered Macau via the Barrier Gate checkpoint that night and went to the same casino to meet a number of accomplices and collect a total of 100 fake chips outside the casino, according to the spokesperson.
