Police punish 127 officers for loafing

A total of 127 Public Security Police (PSP) officers have been punished for having left their posts without permission while they were on duty during Chinese New Year last year, the Secretariat for Security said on its website yesterday.

According to the website, a number of PSP officers were discovered to have left their posts while they were on duty in police stations over a period of five days during Chinese New Year early last year. Consequently, disciplinary proceedings against the officers had been commenced.

By watching the video surveillance recordings of the period during the investigation, another 130 officers were found to have remained in pantries or rest areas while they were on duty, according to the website.
