EduWise and Coca-Cola are among the roughly 60 local businesses that are participating in Orbis Macau’s “Darkness To Go” fundraising campaign where they will donate part of their proceeds to the global non-government and non-profit-making organisation to help restore the sight of those who are needlessly blind.
Local education centre EduWise said in a recent statement that it is joining the campaign this year to raise awareness among the young people who are taking summer courses there, in addition to increase its donations to Orbis.
“It’s not just about donations or service, […] public awareness is an important part of Orbis,” EduWise said, adding, “We want to make our students understand they are using their course fee to do something meaningful this summer – learning and helping.”
Another long-time Orbis supporter, Coca-Cola, is also a participating business in the campaign.
“Orbis’ public welfare effort takes care of the eye health of people around the world, bringing light and hope to those suffering from eye problems,” a recent statement from the global beverage enterprise’s local office said, adding, “By supporting Orbis’ sight-saving mission, we’re extending this care out to the people in need, which is particularly meaningful.”
Coca-Cola’s statement said that the “darkness” theme in Orbis’ campaign fits perfectly with the beverage brand’s “Zero” series where the colour of the packaging and the drink are also black.
While EduWise Macau Limited will donate part of its proceeds to Orbis Macau during the campaign period, Macau Coca-Cola Beverage Company will donate 1 percent of its sales from purchases of 330 ml cans or 500 ml bottles of Coca-Cola Zero.
