Scores of volunteers have joined typhoon cleanup groups organised by various community associations to help the city recover after deadly Typhoon Hato hit Macau on Wednesday.
Speaking to The Macau Post Daily yesterday in a phone interview, Yaka Chan Chi Wai, a staff member of the Macau New Chinese Youth Association (MNCYA), said her group had recruited volunteers to help clean up various areas of the city and deliver lunch boxes and bottled water to senior citizens living alone between Thursday and Saturday, before Typhoon Pakhar arrived.
About 300 and over 500 volunteers joined the post-typhoon cleanup organised by the MNCYA on Friday and Saturday respectively, according to Chan.
