A traffic accident in Avenida Dr. Rodrigo Rodrigues in Zape took the life of a scooter rider yesterday.

According to Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong, the rider was a 49-year-old non-resident male worker from the mainland, who held a Hong Kong driving licence.

Referring to traffic police reports, Lam said the scooter rider was driving from Rua de Malaca towards the Orient Arch. At 8:42 a.m. when a coach transporting 50 kindergarten pupils overtook the scooter near the bus stop at Long Cheng Building. The scooter was hit by the coach on the right hand side right, causing it to careen into a car on the left. The scooter rider was dragged underneath the coach.
