The police nabbed a tourist from Taiwan at the local airport on Sunday for carrying an illegal weapon, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lam Keong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Lam identified the suspect as a male tourist surnamed Lin who is about 30 years old and told the police that he works as a car mechanic in Taiwan, the spokesman said.
According to Lam, Lin was scheduled to depart from the local airport on Sunday afternoon. When he was going through the airport’s security check, security guards spotted a suspicious item in a shoulder bag that he was carrying, which the guards suspected to be an electric shock weapon. The airport security called the police for help at about 5:40 p.m.
