MGM China Holdings Limited Co-Chairperson and Executive Director Pansy Ho Chiu King said yesterday that once the company’s property in Cotai opens, there would be more space for more collaboration with Japanese digital software company teamLab.

Ho made the remarks during her speech at the opening ceremony of “Learn & Play! teamLab Future Park” digital exhibition at MGM Macau.

Ho said that it was six years ago that MGM started to use art as the key element to add innovation to Macau’s art and culture scene.

“This is about how we open up the future, so the theme is ‘Future Park’, and we want to see Macau as a place for the young and old, where people can come here and discover their childhood dreams,” Ho said, pointing out that with this platform, people can channel their inner child and ignite their creative side.

“We want to build Macau into a creative city, so we have to start with some small steps, but our dream is big,” Ho continued, “[teamLab] is not limited to what we can see here [at MGM Art Space]. It’s just that the space here is limited, but once MGM Cotai
opens, we’ll have a bigger space, and it’s not hard to imagine that we’ll have closer collaboration.”

teamLab kids CEO Akitae Matsumoto said that the digital art exhibition at MGM was a creation of 500 people, and the effect would be enriched with visitors’ input, which was the message his company wanted to get out, using digital art to bring people together.

“We believe that art opens the way to the future and we will keep putting efforts, so that the whole world in the future will refer to Future Park and say, this is where the story began,” Matsumoto said.

teamLab exhibitions have been held in Europe, the US and across Asia. This “Future Park” is MGM’s 23rd exhibition and marks the casino- hotel’s 10th anniversary.

The exhibition runs until February 28. Normal admission is 150 patacas but for holders of Macau ID cards and M Life cards it’s just 120 patacas
