Legislature passes bill raising public servants’ birth allowance

The legislature yesterday passed a government-drafted bill on increasing public servants’ birth allowance. The bill proposes that the monthly allowance be increased from 45 salary points (3,735 patacas) to 60 salary points (4,980 patacas).

The bill proposes that the increase be effective from April 1 next year.

Currently, one salary point for public servants’ salaries is 83 patacas. The government proposes that the amount of one salary point be increased to 85 patacas starting from January next year.
