The police arrested this week a male mainlander for illegal entry into Macau earlier this year and stealing a friend’s money in 2015, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Ho Chan Nam said during a regular press conference in Zape yesterday.
Ho identified the suspect as a 51-year-old man surnamed Wang, who claimed to be unemployed. The victim is a female mainlander whose details were not revealed.
According to Ho, Wang and the victim got to know each other in Macau. On December 26, 2015, the victim gave HK$30,000 to Wang in a casino in Cotai to exchange the cash into chips for her. However, Wang didn’t return. After trying to contact Wang several times but to no avail, the victim reported the incident to the police.
