The Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested two male mainlanders on Saturday for robbing a female compatriot in a resort hotel in Cotai in January, PJ spokeswoman Lei Hon Nei said during a special press conference yesterday.

Lei identified the suspects as a 43-year-old surnamed Song and a 43-year-old surnamed Wang, both from the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and both claiming to be unemployed. Lei noted that the victim is a woman from the mainland in her fifties, who runs a money-changing business in Macau.

According to Lei, Song on January 30 called the victim, claiming that he wanted to exchange yuan into HK$360,000. On that evening, the victim went to a hotel guestroom in a resort in Cotai, where they agreed to meet for the deal. After entering the room, Song pushed the victim onto the bed and Wang appeared from the bathroom. The duo tied the victim up with the belt from a towelling bathrobe and stuffed a face flannel into her mouth.
