A male mainlander was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in at least five recent bus pickpocketing cases, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Choi Ian Fai said during a special press conference at the PJ headquarters in Zape yesterday.
Choi identified the suspect as Gao, a 49-year-old from Hunan province, who claimed to be unemployed.
Choi said that the Judiciary Police recently received a number of reports from local residents about being pickpocketed on buses. While investigating five of the cases, the police saw on bus CCTV footage several men acting suspiciously and approaching bus passengers, before pickpocketing them of their wallets.
