A woman from the mainland was arrested on Wednesday for stealing chips worth HK$260,000 from a man she met in Macau, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a special press conference yesterday at the PJ headquarters in Zape.

According to Leng, the suspect is a 30-year-old surnamed Ouyang, who claimed to be unemployed, and the victim is a male mainlander in his forties who works in the real estate sector.

Leng said that on May 12, the victim came to Macau and stayed in a resort-hotel in Cotai. While he was gambling in a casino he met Ouyang and they spent the rest of the day together. That night Ouyang told the victim that she didn’t have anywhere to stay and asked if she could stay in his hotel room, to which he agreed.
