An official from the Civic and Municipal Affairs Bureau (IACM), who attended yesterday’s Macau Forum, said that the ongoing two-month roadworks in the city’s busy Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro was “well” underway and that his bureau believes that the roadwork project can be completed late next month, or in early September as initially planned.
Popularly, the avenue is known as San Ma Lou (“New Thoroughfare”).
The weekly debate programme is hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM every Sunday. Normally the forum is held in the open air in Areia Preta Park. But the broadcaster has arranged for the programme to be held indoors in its studio at Macau Forum in Zape in July and August – then first time being yesterday– due to the hot weather and “unstable” weather conditions during the summer.
