The central government’s apparent travel ban on mainlanders’ package tours to South Korea is still in place, and the South Korean tourism agency hopes that Macau could be an alternative departure for visitors from Guangdong to South Korea.

Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) Hong Kong Office Executive Director Janice Kim Kwan Mi made the remarks while speaking to The Macau Post Daily yesterday after a lunch it hosted for the Macau travel industry and media at StarWorld Hotel.

KTO, whose Hong Kong office also oversees Macau affairs, is under South Korea’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
