Unitary Police Service (SPU) Commissioner-General Ma Io Kun said yesterday that the system for the new mode of border clearing to be used at the border checkpoint at the Zhuhai-Macau side of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau (HKZM) Bridge is being tested “repeatedly” by immigration officers of these two cities to ensure that it will run smoothly when the delta bridge comes into use.

Ma made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of yesterday’s Macau Forum, the weekly debate programme hosted by government-owned broadcaster TDM in its studio at the Macau Forum in Zape every Sunday.

The mega-bridge is widely expected to open to traffic later this year. Its opening date is yet to be announced by the central government.
