The Judiciary Police (PJ) have arrested a Filipina for providing illegal loans to 50 compatriots since April last year, PJ spokesman Leng Kam Lon said during a regular press conference yesterday.
According to Leng, the suspect is a non-local resident female whom he identified as Desiree.
Leng said that the Judiciary Police received complaints from two Philippine domestic helpers in July. Both told the police they had both borrowed 6,000 patacas each from the suspect last year due to family issues. Since then Desiree had kept their bank cards, passports and blue cards (work permits), demanding they each pay her 1,200 patacas per month. Leng noted that both had paid the suspect 11,000 patacas each.
