A total of 255 high-rises – or some 20 percent of the total in Macau – will join a programme launched by the Marine and Water Bureau (DSAMA) which aims to ensure the hygiene of tap water in tower blocks, according to which the participating buildings will implement the official guidelines on the maintenance of tap water systems in high-rise buildings.

The bureau said in a statement that it hosted the launching ceremony of the programme yesterday.

According to the statement, the bureau has published the guidelines on the maintenance of tap water systems in high-rise buildings with the aim of encouraging property management companies to properly carry out maintenance tasks on the various components of the tap water systems, including the water storage tanks on the top of skyscrapers.
