The fully clothed body of a male was found yesterday afternoon floating in the sea near the land reclamation area known as Zone A, which lies off the north-eastern coast of the peninsula, according to a Judiciary Police (PJ) statement yesterday.

The statement said that officers of the Customs Service patrolling on a speedboat spotted the floating body in the afternoon. They took the corpse to the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal.

The statement said that the deceased – whose ID was found on him – was a 36-year-old male mainlander surnamed Chen. The 1.7-metre tall male was wearing a light coloured shirt, jeans and trainers.

The cadaver was bloated and the skin was peeling off while no superficial injuries were found. The police said an autopsy would be carried out to confirm the cause of death, apart from an investigation into the circumstances of the case.
