Imported workers rise 4.6 pct 185,066

Macau’s number of non-resident workers (NRWs) rose 4.6 percent year on year to 185,066 at the end of August, the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) announced this week.

Workers imported from the mainland (115,724), Hong Kong (4,817) and Taiwan (1,425) accounted for two-thirds of the total number. 

A total of 30,746 workers imported from the Philippines worked in Macau at the end of last month. The number of workers imported from Vietnam stood at 15,079. Indonesian and Nepalese workers amounted to 5,174 and 4,094 respectively. The number of workers imported from Myanmar and Malaysia stood at 2,333 and 1,245 respectively.
