When shift work and late nights became a bit too much, casino employee João Ricardo V. Areias turned to exercise and healthy food, which led him to open his own restaurant offering a range of dishes to cater to different diets, which are also healthier alternatives to the usual carbohydrate- and fat-based diet.
“I didn’t have a healthy lifestyle when I worked at the casino, and there weren’t many restaurants for healthy eating,” Ricardo V. Areias told MPD Weekender at his HealthyHabits Superfood Café opening event yesterday, “So I went to the gym, and usually when people turn to exercising, they’d also adopt a healthy eating habit, and because there wasn’t anyone that has that healthy diet concept.”
Ricardo V. Areias explained that unlike other vegetarian or vegan restaurants, his café offers a variety of meals to cater to different diets, so besides vegetarian and vegan dishes, there are also meals for those on a keto diet and paleo diet.
